Okay, let’s think about something for a minute.
When you know of an important date, you put it in your calendar, right?
I mean, if you your boss gives you the date of a very important meeting you’re not just going to walk away without writing it down.
Or, if you receive a wedding invitation in the mail you are going to check the date and mark it down in your calendar.
Or, you even write dates down so that if another event comes up you can check and see if you already have something else going on so you don’t double book yourself (Ugh, that’s the worst).
You see? We mark down events that are important to us.
So how about our clients? Do we treat them with the same importance?
I posted in our private Facebook group earlier this week about how we approach coaching in our gym - and it went really well! But, then I realized this may not be what every coach and every gym does, so I decided I HAD to tell you guys about it.
Every day our coaches have a time slot mapped out in which all they do in that time is catch up with their clients. They respond to clients’ messages, remind clients of their goals and activity, and follow up with clients who are struggling or encourage the ones that are doing well.
We as a collective whole have a vision as to how we want to execute our job: We want all our clients to thrive and conquer their goals. Because our vision is quite lofty, we give the tedious part the same kind of effort as the more fun part. We know success comes from consistency and therefore, we are consistent in reaching out to our clients.
If you read our earlier blog post you will see that true accountability requires a person behind it. We serve as that motivator and accountability partner to our client. This is why the not-so-fun part of coaching is critical. Actual results will require consistency and hard work over time. And for our clients to be consistent and continue to work hard even when it’s challenging, our clients need us, their coach, to show up for them. THAT is why we have this time scheduled every single day. We understand what it will take for our vision to be possible, and therefore, we treat all the steps as equally important. It’s all about the big picture.
If you don’t discipline yourself and have this time already mapped out in your day, it will slip through the cracks and then before you know it several days will go by and you’ll realize you didn’t check in with your clients. Not only does this affect your client’s success, it will affect yours too. If you want your clients to refer you, you must be communicative and consistent.
It all follows an order.
If you are consistent in reaching out to your clients each day, you client will also be consistent in hitting his or her goals. Then, if your clients see awesome success, so will you. Your clients will want to refer you to others because they are so pleased with their results - which means more business for you (AKA success). It all follows an order and it all starts with YOUR consistency.
If you want to see success in your business, start with being consistent in reaching out to your clients. Make a time slot every day devoted to just that and you’ll see awesome results, I promise.
